Vector and raster artwork

Vector, ideal

  • Scales to any size with no loss of quality
  • Crisp edges on text and fine detail
  • Solid spot colours we can match to PMS
  • Editable for resizing to each print area

Raster, use with care

  • Pixel-based, so it blurs or pixelates when enlarged
  • Must be supplied at 300dpi at final print size
  • Harder to colour-match precisely
  • Best avoided for line art, text and logos

Key requirements at a glance

  • Colour modeVector spot colours specified as Pantone (PMS) references for accurate matching. CMYK accepted for full-colour digital print.
  • ResolutionRaster artwork must be a minimum of 300dpi at the actual size it will be printed.
  • FontsConvert all text to outlines or curves, or supply the font files with your artwork.
  • BackgroundsSupply logos with transparent or no background where possible.
  • Max coloursScreen printing is priced per colour. Let us know your spot colours; full-colour designs suit digital print.

Supplying artwork, your questions

The file formats we accept
Vector files are preferred: EPS, AI or vector PDF, with fonts outlined. We also accept SVG, high-resolution PSD, and PNG at 300dpi at print size when vector is unavailable. Send what you have and we will check it as part of your quote.
Why vector artwork is preferred
Vector artwork scales to any umbrella panel with no loss of quality and gives crisp edges on text and detail. It also holds solid spot colours we can match to PMS references. Raster artwork is pixel-based, so it blurs when enlarged and is harder to colour-match.
If you only have a JPG or website logo
That is fine, send whatever you have. Our studio can redraw most logos to print-ready vector as part of your quote, and you approve the result as part of the order process. We will tell you up front if a file needs work.
How brand colour matching works
Supply your colours as Pantone (PMS) references and we match them as closely as the fabric and print method allow. Spot colour screen printing gives the most accurate match, while full-colour designs use digital print. See our PMS colour chart for guidance.
Whether fonts need to be outlined
Yes, convert all text to outlines or curves before sending, or supply the font files with your artwork. This stops fonts shifting or substituting on our system. If you are unsure, send the file and we will confirm what we need.
The print area on an umbrella
Branding is applied per canopy panel, and the available area depends on the umbrella style. Golf umbrellas offer up to eight printable panels, while compact umbrellas have smaller panels. We confirm the exact print area and position for your chosen umbrella on the proof.

Branded umbrellas that print sharp

Branded umbrellas look their best when your logo is set up right for the canopy.
